Great Grandpa_AY125borderCornelius Romence founded Romence Gardens in 1903. What began as a celery farm at the northwest corner of South Westnedge and Romence Road is now one of the largest nurseries in southwest Michigan. Cornelius, his son Paul, and grandson Bob, built up the business to include annual and perennial flowers, shrubs and trees. In 1988, Bob Romence moved the family business to its current location on Shaver Road. Still in Portage, the new location gives them 10 spacious acres for plants, shrubs, trees and landscape supplies.

Bob and his children, Jeff, Shelley and Joe, offer a “friendly, no pressure” approach to business. The Romence staff is always ready to serve their customers, from answering questions on a problem plant, or suggesting a type of plant to thrive in your yard’s conditions, to loading the merchandise into the customer’s vehicle-anything they can do for their customers to enhance their shopping experience. It’s the Romence family way of doing business.

We take pride in providing our customers with quality nursery stock and supplies and many of our plants come with a one year warranty. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
